Earth Day
Truckee High's Envirolution Club is one of the school's most active organizations. From putting on classic "Trashion" shows at local schools to performing at national conferences across the nation, this club is making a difference. The shows, appropriately deemed "Trashion", are filled to the brim with rocking music, show-stopping couture (made from trash and recycled materials), and important environmental messages. We believe in educating both older and younger generations about the problems our planet faces today and ways we can solve those problems. Click here for scheduled appearances.
Do One Thing! What can you do? Even just one thing can make a big difference. Want some ideas? Here are some great things our students are doing!
Take Care Campaign
"Students at the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District are promoting a new culture of environmental caretaking throughout the school's thanks to an EpicPromise grant from Northstar Resort. School leaders hit a funding snag with their plans to incorporate a new regional stewardship messaging campaign called Take Care in the schools. Northstar stepped in to help, printing more than 600 signs for students to post in appropriate places around the school facilities as reminders to students, staff, and the community to help take care of the local environment."

Stewards of Our Community
Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships partners with TTUSD to promote stewardship by connecting students to the local environment and community through service learning projects. The middle school Eco Action students have planted native Sugar Pine trees in the Truckee area. Eco-Action students have also generated an educational outreach video after they studied the value of local fish habitat restoration near their school, Alder Creek Middle School. The elementary Green Teams have packaged native seeds (to be handed out by High School Envirolution students at over 10 Trashion shows annually). Green Team students have also assisted "The League to Save Lake Tahoe" with educational storm drain markers for lake clarity in the Tahoe Lake Elementary neighborhood. Finally, all students...Green Team, Eco-Action and Envirolution club members donate service time to crucial restoration or environmental service days such as Beach Clean-ups, Keep Tahoe Blue, Truckee River Day, and community trash pickup days. Check out some of their amazing Videos of these activities.
