Accelerated Learning Programs

ACCELERATED LEARNING PROGRAMS & SERVICES

Tahoe Truckee Unified School District empowers all students to reach their full potential. Our Accelerated Learning Programs offer a tiered support system to nurture each student's academic growth, social well-being and emotional development.

  • Tier 1: Building a Strong Foundation: Our classrooms provide engaging and differentiated instruction, ensuring every student receives the support they need to thrive.

  • Tier 2: Expanding Horizons: For students seeking a deeper challenge, we offer specialized programs like GATE classes, advanced math pathways, honors courses, and high school AP classes.

  • Tier 3: Personalized Learning: For students who require more intensive support, we offer subject-specific or full-grade acceleration, personalized learning plans, and social-emotional support.

Identifying Students for GATE Programs:

  • Universal Screening Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (3rd Grade): NNAT 3 test score (95th percentile or higher)

  • Eligible for Portfolio Submission (Optional): NNAT 3 score (90th-94th percentile) with portfolio review

  • Additional Considerations:

    • Existing Tier 3 Academic Support Plan

    • HOPE Teacher Rating Scales (all categories score 5 or 6) or consistent teacher narrative

    • Multilingual Learners or Socioeconomically Disadvantaged students (additional evaluations)

    • Strong performance on ELPAC exam (considered for GATE identification)

Identifying Students for Other Accelerated Learning Services:

  • Teacher Observations & Assessments - Formative assessments, classwork, pre-assessments

  • Standardized Testing Data

  • Teacher Ratings

  • Math Placement Exams & Assessments

  • High School Coursework
